One of my classmates this week posed a question regarding how we thought the “pandemic positively or negatively impacted public and politics perception about Telehealth”
Politics has no place in telemedicine/telehealth or in public health. I think the COVID-19 pandemic period (2020-present) has negatively impacted the public's perceptions about the evidence base supporting healthcare policy, due to the fact political representatives have been able to hijack scientific discussion surrounding viral origin, progression, natural immunity, and treatment options. In my opinion, this has led to public distrust concerning the accuracy of these government-endorsed (not necessarily scientifically rigorous) recommendations, as well as the privacy/security of their health information. Jen Psaki, the White House Press Secretary just this week announced that the government is "flagging problematic posts FOR Facebook."
I don’t find her statement that the government is "working with doctors and medical professionals to connect medical experts who are popular with their audiences with accurate information," remotely comforting, because science by definition is ever-evolving, and many times the "popular" view does not reflect reality. We have far from a consensus from experts concerning SARS-CoV-2, so have no business censoring research discussion. I believe this is a terrifying development and authoritarian to the extreme.
What percentage of the population had its faith in public health policy undermined over the last year is unknown.
This perspective might apply to the public that has left CNN, MSNBC, and the majority of Fox news, and that no longer trust The Washington Post and even The New York Times, who are now both honorary members of the Trusted News Initiative (TNI) https://keywiki.org/Trusted_News_Initiative This perspective might apply to the public that now follows award-winning (but smeared) journalists Glenn Greenwald, Matt Taibbi, and Sharyl Attkisson who formerly published in TNI places (for outlets leaning left-wing) but left those media outlets when their stories started getting censored.
Ivory Hecker who worked for Fox news (right-wing) until this month, quit the network when they wouldn't let her talk about the drug that Dr. Joseph Varon was using to treat his patients. Dr. Joseph Varon has talked with much of the media who are part of the TNI. He has talked with the media 1,640 times. But every network or news outlet censored out the treatment protocol he was using to heal his Covid patients. https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2021/07/can_you_say_ivermectin_in_the_usa.html
Conflicts of Interest in Public Health Agencies
There is plenty of evidence that the WHO https://researchgate.net/profile/Soren-Ventegodt/publication/281876323_Why_the_Corruption_of_the_World_Health_Organization_WHO_is_the_Biggest_Threat_to_the_World%27s_Public_Health_of_Our_Time/links/589af757a6fdcc32dbe04ba9/Why-the-Corruption-of-the-World-Health-Organization-WHO-is-the-Biggest-Threat-to-the-Worlds-Public-Health-of-Our-Time.pdf
in recent years have had serious Big Pharma conflicts of interest - many scientists, journalists and whistleblowers have been warning the public for years about the problem - also on TNI news outlets. https://www.politico.eu/article/bill-gates-who-most-powerful-doctor/ ("Gates' priorities have become the WHO's")
It is not only "12 media sources" who have been censored in the past year. It is also all the researchers and professionals at these websites, for example (non-comprehensive list):

Dr. Vinay Prasad describes the conundrum with determining which experts recommend good public health policy:
“…unlike your internal 'personal' risk thermostat, the policy thermostat actually does have a right answer. We might not know it, but there are surely policies that maximize human well-being and ones that do not. The problem is there is no set of credentials that predict the people who advocate for good policy from those who advocate for bad policy…Good policy does exist. It is what works. We would all do better to remember that and be careful not to fall in love with folks who simply share our personal risk assessment” https://www.medpagetoday.com/opinion/vinay-prasad/92652?trw=no
Examples of experts who’ve been censored:
Dr. Tess Lawrie, external analyst for WHO, has peer-reviewed publications that have received in excess of 3000 citations and her ResearchGate score is among the top 5% of ResearchGate members https://odysee.com/@BretWeinstein:f/TessLawrie:0
Dr. Peter A. McCullough "is an internationally recognized authority on the role of chronic kidney disease as a cardiovascular risk state with > 1000 publications and > 500 citations in the National Library of Medicine. His works include the “Interface between Renal Disease and Cardiovascular Illness” in Braunwald’s Heart Disease Textbook. Dr. McCullough is a recipient of the Simon Dack Award from the American College of Cardiology and the International Vicenza Award in Critical Care Nephrology for his scholarship and research." https://www.cardiometabolichealth.org/peter-mccullough.html
Dr. David Martin is a patent expert, and has reviewed over 4,000 patents issued around SARS coronavirus. https://seemorerocks.is/nothing-about-the-novel-coronavirus-is-new-dr-david-martin-with-reiner-fuellmich/
Dr. Sucharit Bhakdi is a Thai-German microbiologist. He was a post-doctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute of Immunobiology and Epigenetics in Freiburg and at The Protein Laboratory in Copenhagen. Dr. Bhakdi joined the Institute of Medical Microbiology at Giessen University and was named chair of Medical Microbiology at the University of Mainz. Dr. Bhakdi has published over three hundred articles in the fields of immunology, bacteriology, virology, and parasitology, for which he has received numerous awards and the Order of Merit of Rhineland-Palatinate. https://doctors4covidethics.org/prof-sucharit-bhakdi-md-meeting-address-17-june-2021/
Dr. Michael Levitt, a professor of structural biology at Stanford University, was awarded the Nobel Prize in chemistry in 2013 for his work on “the development of multiscale models for complex chemical systems.” https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/new-dark-age-cometh-nobel-prize-winning-scientist-uninvited-as-keynote-speaker-for-views-on-coronavirus
Dr. Kary Mullis who won the Nobel Prize for developing the PCR test said that the PCR test should never be used to diagnose disease. It's what we've been using to diagnose covid "cases" and is plagued by proportion of false positives https://nationalfile.com/inventor-of-pcr-test-said-fauci-doesnt-know-anything-and-is-willing-to-lie-on-television/
Dr. Pierre Kory (read his bio here: https://covid19criticalcare.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/FLCCC-Alliance-member-CV-Kory.pdf) says: "I’ve experienced such censorship firsthand. Early in the pandemic, my research led me to testify in the Senate that corticosteroids were life-saving against COVID-19, when all national and international health care agencies recommended against them. My recommendations were criticized, ignored and resisted such that I felt forced to resign my faculty position. Only later did a large study from Oxford University find they were indeed life-saving. Overnight, they became the standard of care worldwide." https://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2021/03/10/censorship_kills_the_shunning_of_a_covid_therapeutic_145376.html
Former Pfizer Vice President & Chief Science Officer Dr. Michael Yeadon is featured here: https://uncoverdc.com/2021/06/04/former-pfizer-vp-an-urgent-appeal-to-humanity/ After being smeared by Reuters (as well as many other TNI outlets) as an “anti-vax proponent” who spreads "medical misinformation", he offered a rebuttal here: https://americasfrontlinedoctors.org/frontlinenews/former-pfizer-vp-answers-reuters-fact-checker-a-pack-of-lies/
Dr. Wolfgang Wodarg is an epidemiologist, a former lawmaker in Germany, and also the former chairman of the Health Committee of Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). In 2010, in frustration over the government and WHO's mishandling of the Swineflu "pandemic", Wolfgang Wodarg told the European Council in Strasbourg that "millions of people worldwide were vaccinated for no good reason." Wodarg was mainly responsible for exposing the scandal. According to Wodarg, the WHO's classification of the swine flu as a pandemic earned the pharmaceutical companies $18 billion in additional revenues. Annual sales of Tamiflu alone jumped 435 percent, to €2.2 billion. https://www.spiegel.de/international/world/reconstruction-of-a-mass-hysteria-the-swine-flu-panic-of-2009-a-682613.html When Dr. Wodarg attempted to speak out about Covid-19 like he had for Swineflu he was smeared and censored. https://www.eclassifie.com/2020/12/dr-wolfgang-wodarg-one-of-the-most-important-experts-the-world-should-hear-about/
Dr. Naomi Wolf was suspended from Twitter following a series of tweets critical of the government's response to Covid-19. Dr. Wolf served as a political advisor to both former President Bill Clinton and Al Gore and has written numerous books on the topics of feminism, free speech, LGBTQ+ rights and more. Ironically, Dr. Wolf, a New York Times best-selling author, recently published a book Outrages, which examines state-sponsored censorship and violations of personal freedoms. https://talkliberation.substack.com/p/big-tech-control-google-twitter-apple-tiktok
Why are these experts getting censored not only by social media but also government health organizations? We are only supposed to listen to the experts who are endorsed by the CDC, the WHO, and the US government who themselves are compromised by conflicts of interest? A month ago, lab leak hypothesis was considered misinformation. Now the same experts caught lying https://reason.com/2021/06/04/lab-leak-misinformation-media-fauci-covid-19/ about the implausibility of the lab leak are pushing mass vaccination and are silencing anyone who disagrees. In recent posts, Greenwald has been attempting to bring clarity to the outrage of media censorship.
The public should be very skeptical of a government health policy run by Big Pharma that has already been caught lying. If they are not, then in my opinion the public should be skeptical. And we, as health science graduates need to be aware of the existence of that significant public fraction comprised also of highly educated people, who over the course of the past year have learned to distrust governmental health advice. We need to understand that the public’s mistrust stems from legitimate (non-fake-story) events and quality sources.
I do not believe that the government's partnership with nefarious social media groups/techno-giants represents in any way a positive or comforting trend. Did anyone hear that around 1/3rd of the budget for EcoHealth Alliance "comes from the Pentagon directly"? https://www.independentsciencenews.org/news/peter-daszaks-ecohealth-alliance-has-hidden-almost-40-million-in-pentagon-funding/ America's National Institutes of Health (NIH) has been funding EcoHealth Alliance, which hired the virology lab in Wuhan to conduct genetic analyses of bat coronaviruses and to examine how they spread to humans. Remember how neither democrats nor republicans could approve a proposal to decrease the $ 740.5 billion Pentagon budget by 10% in the middle of a pandemic???? Remember that I reported that the Pentagon recently failed its audit again, and has yet to pass a single one: https: // www. defensenews.com/pentagon/2020/ 11/16 / the-pentagon-failed-its- audit-again-but-sees-progress
It is certain there are trillions that are unaccounted for; whether the figure amounts to $ 21 trillion as Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez alleged can't be confirmed or denied. According to Mehta, the Pentagon estimates they may be able to finally pass an audit by the year 2027. Why do I bring up DoD/CIA links? Because they are applicable, worrying, and need to be understood by anyone embarking in a future Health Science career: https://qz.com/1145669/googles-true-origin-partly-lies-in-cia-and-nsa-research-grants-for-mass-surveillance/ (written by the Former director of legislative and public affairs, National Science Foundation in 2017). Personal data secure? Not so sure….
If the public's trust in the American government's public health policy and trust in the security of their personal health data has not been broken in the past year, then it should be broken, in my opinion. It is the responsibility of the scientific community and public health experts to assist the drive for reform and replace the corrupt in positions of leadership.
